Oliver D. Brumbaugh

Oliver David Brumbaugh was born and entered life eternal in the morning of March 20, 2009, in Reading Hospital.

He was a son of David L. and Corinne L. (Mohr) Brumbaugh, Mohrsville.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Harrison F., at home.

Other survivors include maternal grandparents, Frederick S. Jr. and Cynthia L. Mohr, Exeter Township; paternal grandmother, RoseMarie, wife of Luther Kauffman, Mohnton; and maternal great-grandparents, Shirley M. Schaeffer and Frederick S. and Nancy Mohr, all of Exeter Township.

Services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Oliver to Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Reading, PA 19606. Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn, is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit http://www.lutzfuneralhome.com/.


words can't describe the emotions my family are feeling right now 3 short weeks before his due date and just days after celebrating his life at lunch with my sister on monday. it's like a horrible nightmare that you continue to wake from and there is no way to take away the pain.

my sister and dave are very private people, so i won't write much other than thank you to those that have sent their condolences to them via me already and for your thoughts and prayers.

i was able to hold my nephew following his birth and it was completely surreal. he is missed by so many and loved that much more.

"o" baby

with my sister's due date with baby brumbaugh #2 approaching ever so quickly, my mom, aunt, nana and i decided to do a "lady lunch"/mini-baby shower. my family is not into the shower thing for the 2nd baby, but we did put together some "small" gifts to give to her and i made yet another diaper cake, but on a smaller scale than my usual cakes.

the "o" at the top stands for oliver, which is the name corinne is pretty sure they'll be giving the baby...dave is on board with it so far, but that can change at any minute. the little "x's" were to represent the "jax" in a jax game which is the theme/bedding corinne did his nursery in.

it's one of my favorites i've done so far...i have another one to do for my dear friend luci this week that just might bump this one off the top...you'll just have to be patient and wait for me to finish it and post the pictures!

in the mean time, here are a few pics of the cake i did for corinne.

gordonville auction 2009

saturday morning the 3 of us and harry b. loaded into the truck, (followed by mikey lutz and cj in his van),bright and early to head to the new holland area of lancaster to attend the gordonville auction/mud sale. it's always fun to look at all the gorgeous antiques and crafts up for auction and check out the animals and buggies the amish come from all over to bid on. we got lucky and this year turned out to not be too muddy of a mud sale as in years past. once we arrived, we met up with our friends tamara and danny and their two daughters paige and lilly. all the kids (and adults alike) had a great time!!

we bundled the boys up nice and toasty and off we went with the wagon.

there was no way we could be in the new holland area without making a stop at weaver's amish store for some window shopping...and a ride on the "big truck" inside the front of the store. it's tony's favorite...and it was harry's first time on it...he's a fan now too!

silly swimmer

our gym is starting up swimming lessons for children in the next few weeks and held an "open swim" this past friday for children 6 and under (and this coming friday for kids over 6). john has been dying to take tony to swim lessons since he was 6 weeks old, so he jumped at the opportunity to hop in the pool with him.

jeepers creepers...is this a joke?

the thought that this place was a figment of my imagination crossed my mind more than once...but unfortunately, it was oh.so.real.

if you never saw the movie jeepers creepers, you'll have no idea what i'm talking about, however if you have, you'll totally understand why this little "pit stop" on the way home from the pocono's had me feeling like we'd never get out of this barn sale alive!

we got out of the car and walked toward the barn to the sound of eery music playing over an old record player. the place was loaded with stuff, stuff and more stuff...the longer i walked around and the more i saw, the more i got the feeling these were items that had belonged to other travelers who stopped and were killed before the owner took their belongings from their cars and set them around to "sell them" and attract other travelers to stop on their way...yeah, i watch too many horror-ish type movies.

however, if you would have seen this guy in person come out of the barn to greet you...

you'd start thinking you walked into a horror movie too. the lady in the background is a mannequin...but that guy is real. you know what else was real...the stench of alcohol emminating from his body and the gums where his teeth used to be. yeah, that was real too!

february recap

here is my lame attempt at trying to catch up on posting all that we did the rest of february. i'm going to try to get it straight...bare with me!

february 19-22: john's coyote hunting trip

john was asked to join our friend danny and his friend joe at danny's hunting camp again this year. john was very excited to go. while no one came home with a coyote (yeah, like we have any room in the house for one of those), they still had a great time. john got to enjoy some snow (i have to admit, i'm a bit jealous about that one) and some "guy time" in the great outdoors that he loves so much.

february 27 - march 1: lappin pocono house

on friday night the 27th the three of us loaded into the car and headed to the pocono's for a weekend getaway. our friend (and john's co-worker) john has a house up there and offered it to us for the night, and then he and 2 of his kids joined us on saturday for the rest of the weekend. we enjoyed fun times just hanging out at the house playing pool and drinking some wine. then we headed out to do a tour of some of the local wineries and drank more wine. tony just loves the kids and they are like built in baby-sitters too, so it was a pretty relaxing weekend for us all!
