to quote quincy from the little einstein's..."i can not believe it!!"!!!!

the philadelphia phillies have won the 2008 world series!!! this is only their 2nd time winning and it comes 28 years after that first win (1980 for those not up to quick math this evening)!!!

great job...let's just hope the philadelphians don't burn down the city during their celebrating!!

birthday kickoff

today marked the kick-off of tony's birthday celebrations. my parent's cruise dates got changed by the cruise line a while back and therefore they will not be home over tony's birthday/the date of his actual party so they decided to throw a mini-celebration today before they leave. since tony picked mickey for his "big" party, mom and dad threw a "second runner-up" cars themed party for him. it was a fun time. neenee, harry and nanee were in attendance as well (even though they'll be attending the big shin-dig in a few weeks)...you can never get enough of birthdays!!

tony was definitely into his birthday this year...knowing fully what to do when opening presents and with his cake. the cake wasn't even on the table a full second before he blew out all 3 candles in one shot!

he received a fisher-price portable dvd player from mimi and papa (it's great and is more shock absorbant and kid-friendly than the regular portable dvd players expecting that it will get dropped). from nanee he got a "poingo". it's a "pen" that you touch to the coordinating books and it reads the story as you follow along and you can also point to little extra pictures for fun surprising sounds. from neenee, d and harry he received lightning mcqueen pj's...very cozy.

he watched cars in the car on his dvd player on the way home and got in his jammies as soon as we settled in. he watched a little of "the music man" on his dvd player before bed.

speaking of bed...i'm off too. you can see the rest of the pictures of his 1st of 2 (actually 3 if you count his school party too) parties here.

ready for fall

with my mums planted and pumpkins purchased, i can finally say i'm ready for fall and the cooler weather that comes with it!!! it truly is my favorite season and i love seeing all the colors God shows us this time of year!

i'm alive...

things have been busy, busy, busy...sorry for the lack of updating over the weekend. i've added 3 updates below so hopefully this "triple play" makes up for my slackerness! enjoy!!!

you might be a redneck if...

your soon-to-be 3 year old son's favorite sing-a-long song contains the following lyrics...

"please operator, can you trace this call? don't know where i'm drinkin', which dirty beer hall..."

yes my friends, if you listen closely you'll hear the tone-ster belting out some garth brooks with daddy while cruisin' in the family truckster...you won't see him singing as he would have clammed up then, so it's just us sitting in the dark of the truck. you'll just have to close your eyes and imagine his adorable face singing those words. it was a a true father-son (jeff foxworthy) moment like john always dreamed of...

friday night lights

a friday evening with nothing to do doesn't happen too often for us, so imagine my surprise when we finally had one and were able to attend the exeter senior high school football game. ok, so i hardly went there for the football (seriously, they haven't won this year)...you got it...call me all the names in the book you want...i was there for the marching band - i am band nerd, hear me roar!! and they did not disappoint!!! this year's theme was thriller (so how could i as a michael jackson and marching band fan resist!).

the one and only tony d!

t-bone and his daddy

seeing as the rest of my family is also on the band (nerd) wagon, we all made the trek to the hill of the high school (none of us were interested in paying for a ticket for the game we knew they would lose) for the pregame show. then we headed back to mimi and poppop's for pizza to wait it out until the post game marching band show where we watched from inside the stadium.

me, harry b, and johnny d

poppop and harry

neenee (and the bump)

i took waaaayyyy too many pictures and video of the entire field show, but i was just so impressed!! the marching band is the biggest in the history of the school and has been winning accolade after accolade at cavalcade competition's throughout the area! they are quite impressive...but you can see that for yourself.

here is my favorite clip of the theme song from jurassic park (another favorite of mine due to my obsession with dinosaurs and that movie), leading into thriller, complete with the dance sequence...it's kind of lengthy, but well worth it!!

there must be something in the water

on friday afternoon i had the pleasure of attending a small baby shower at penske honoring two friends (who also happen to be former co-workers) mario (and his wife - the one actually having the baby - anne) and alicia (my former supervisor - and her husband bobby). while alicia and bobby know that they will be welcoming a boy (due date is november 4th), mario and anne are wanting to be surprised and will wait until the birth (due date is january 2nd) to find out...i do not have that kind of patience, nor do i like surprises that much!!

mario and anne

the yummy cake

alicia (mrs. "bobby majcher!!!!!!")

they got a lot of great gifts and generous gift cards and it was fun to get together again with "the old gang" to celebrate such a wonderful occasion!! these two new penske babies will mark the 3rd and 4th babies in that department alone in 12 months...there must be something in the water!!

you can see more pictures from the mini-shower here.

oh toodles...

well, better late than never i suppose. tony's birthday is fast approaching and every intention i had of getting his invitations done and in the mail by the first weekend of october totally and utterly failed!

it wasn't 100% my fault as he flip flopped (future president perhaps?) on his theme several times...first it was mickey mouse clubhouse, then it was pirates (not sure where that came from), then it was back to mickey, then onto disney's cars, surprisingly there was a sleeping beauty thrown in there and then finally back to mickey. if it were up to him, we'd still be tossing around party themes, but i finally created the invitation using mickey mouse clubhouse as a theme and when i showed it to him, he loved it and was just fine with our/my decision. he really is quite indecisive for his young age (hmmm, wonder who he gets that from - hee hee)!

so, now...after unveiling invitations that i have done for all my friends and family, i now present the very first invite i completed for myself...

the front...the back...
sorry for the fuzziness of the pictures...when i used the flash, there was a giant flash spot on them and without the flash, they weren't very clear...you get the picture though.

poppop

i think of you every day and wish you were here. there's so much that happened that i wish you could have been here for. i know you are watching over all of us...happy birthday!

for the love of facebook

ok, so i could never get myself into the myspace thing, but i've fallen for facebook...fallen hard...but it's ok because something amazing has happened because of it!! i've reconnected with a lot of people...old sorority sisters, former co-workers from the disney college program, and high school classmates that i haven't talked to since...well, high school. but last night, i received a friend request from a very special person in my life from a long time ago...my pen pal that i had from elementary school, rebecca - and even john agreed at that point (after seeing my total excitement at reconnecting with her), that facebook is a good thing!!

rebecca is the granddaughter of my pastor of my church (now retired) from when i was growing up. we began a friendship (back in the 80's) during one of her visits to see her grandparents. she, her mom, dad and two brothers lived in hawaii. we kept in touch for years on paper (to this day i still have her parents home address in hawaii memorized - and anyone that knows me knows i have trouble memorizing anything!) and visited when she would come East to visit her grandparents. through college we lost touch, but she was never far from my mind, and the first person i asked about when i ran into pastor and mrs. harding.

she has a beautiful family of her own now with a daughter only about 6 months or so older than anthony! although she no longer lives in hawaii, she is still not real close (now in california), so for now, we'll have our blogs, email and facebook to keep us back in touch with each other...a far cry from the cute stationary and fun colored pens we used to use "back in the day"...but a heck of a lot quicker than the snail mail we used to rely on!

which disney princess are you?

i saw this on several blogs that i read and finally decided being the disney fanatic that i am, that i need to see which disney princess i am most like. ok, so it's basically to see who i need to lock in a closet and steal her job next time i'm there, but i digress...

drumroll please...

i'm most like princess aurora (aka "sleeping beauty")

thoughtful and loving. authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

hello designers...

project runway season finale part 1 tonight!! can i just say i'm not the only d'angelo to be excited about this? john has actually become equally (ok, well, almost) obsessed with it about as much as i am now...if not only for the pure entertainment of tim gunn!

tony d. was fed early with all attention devoted to him and only him for several hours after arriving home, so i could guarantee he'd be tired and an early night into bed where he'll stay, so johnny d and i can enjoy the entire [uninteruppted] episode!

enjoy if you will!!

oh, and i'm so done with kenley...if she's still around after tonight's episode, i'll scream!

update:...screaming!!!! i just finished watching part 1 and i can't believe she made it to bryant park! ah, well, yeah, i can...producers kept her around for ratings! that's about it...jerrel is on his way home...so long girl!

t-man

we were spending a little time outside this afternoon just before tony left with his betty nana and poppop for dinner with his cousins, so i thought i'd take the opportunity to take a couple of pictures of tony in his "preppy" outfit. i can totally remember when these v-neck sweaters from the gap were all the rage when i was in junior high. the second and third pictures have now become my favorite pictures of my t-man at the moment! the first picture clearly shows he had just woken up from his 3 hour afternoon nap before we headed outside and wasn't quite in the "having-his-picture-taken-mood".

shameless self-promoting...

ok, so i just finished two more sets of invites, ironically both for baptisms. one for my friend bobbi's daughter kara's baptism and the other for my best friend shannon's son troy, who after his baptism on 11/16 will be our godson as shannon and mike have asked john and i to be troy's sponsors! we couldn't be more excited or honored to accept that role!

although i did the same style, they are different in their own ways (on troy's i incorporated the baptism symbol of the scalloped shell)...i just really fell in love with the look of this simple, yet stately invite.

here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure (and again, my shameless self-promotion)!!

one heck of a few days

wow - it's been one heck of a few days, but as "hump day" (wednesday) comes to a close, i can say i'm feeling much better. thanks to all of you for your supportive words and emails of encouragement...they truly mean a lot. okay, enough of the sappy stuff!

on a lighter note, i taught my first flute lesson last night. not first in my entire life, but first in a looooong time. it felt so good to be doing some teaching again! the best part of it all (and what made leaving tony d behind not be so awful) was when i walked in their front door and was greeted by the little girl whom i'll be teaching. she had a huge grin on her face and was beaming with excitement to get started. even after a 45 minute lesson of very, very beginning basics, she was still excited and that made my day (and whole week so far)!

well, gotta run...project runway is on and i have to watch (and pray) that kenley gets her tush thrown in the trash tonight!!! gosh i can't stand her. for anyone who is equally obsessed with that show, you must must must check out the blog, "project run-gay"! it's a hilarious perspective of the show from tom and lorenzo, the blog's (homosexual) owners' point of view! check it out here!
