birthday kickoff

today marked the kick-off of tony's birthday celebrations. my parent's cruise dates got changed by the cruise line a while back and therefore they will not be home over tony's birthday/the date of his actual party so they decided to throw a mini-celebration today before they leave. since tony picked mickey for his "big" party, mom and dad threw a "second runner-up" cars themed party for him. it was a fun time. neenee, harry and nanee were in attendance as well (even though they'll be attending the big shin-dig in a few weeks)...you can never get enough of birthdays!!

tony was definitely into his birthday this year...knowing fully what to do when opening presents and with his cake. the cake wasn't even on the table a full second before he blew out all 3 candles in one shot!

he received a fisher-price portable dvd player from mimi and papa (it's great and is more shock absorbant and kid-friendly than the regular portable dvd players expecting that it will get dropped). from nanee he got a "poingo". it's a "pen" that you touch to the coordinating books and it reads the story as you follow along and you can also point to little extra pictures for fun surprising sounds. from neenee, d and harry he received lightning mcqueen pj's...very cozy.

he watched cars in the car on his dvd player on the way home and got in his jammies as soon as we settled in. he watched a little of "the music man" on his dvd player before bed.

speaking of bed...i'm off too. you can see the rest of the pictures of his 1st of 2 (actually 3 if you count his school party too) parties here.

Such a lucky and VERY CUTE little man. How awesome is that DVD player?! My MIL called me last week and asked if it was ok if she bought Ryan one...we were like...ummm if you want to spend $150 then go right ahead! LOL...well she thought she saw a sign that said $50. We told her that was probably the camera we had already bought him for his b-day from Fisher Price. So...who knows...maybe Ryan will be the proud owner of this cool kid gadget.

Looks like you all had a great time! CARS is awesome isn't it!

My mom said the same thing after going to TRU...she thought it would be like $50. She ended up getting it at Boscov's with a 25% off coupon!! Bargain! She figured with it being "Kid Tough" for the falls and everything it was probably worth the $150 for it instead of a $70 "real" one that would break and have to be replaced after the first drop.
