baby talk...

we had a dr. appointment on friday 8/20. john, anthony and i were led into the u/s room. right away we saw 2 hands...2 feet...2 kidneys...bladder...everything is looking good so far...

oh wait.

what's that??

oh boy! it's a boy!

meet vincent "vinnie" robert d'angelo

our little bug's a boy! and this little boy (the 5th total now for my side of the family in 5 years) is measuring just perfectly. we go back in 3 weeks for another ultrasound of him to finalize some measurements (not because anything was wrong, just because they need him to be a little bigger to get the accurate measurements). she saw all the major organs, etc., but needs to get good measurements of them...i'm not going to complain about another peek at my little man.

i have been honest when asked all along...i would have loved a baby girl knowing i have an amazing little boy at home and that this is most likely our last (last with treatments anyway - it's all up to Him now if we're meant to have another). but after everything we went through to get to the point of even being pregnant this time. after losing our little one last year just weeks after the excrutiating loss my sister had, we honestly couldn't be more thrilled to have a healthy baby boy!

to infinity...and beyond!

my sweet and spunky nephew harry b turned 3 on 8/9 and the family celebrated with a party at corinne and dave's house! good times, good food and lots of fun for the kiddo's!

if you didn't pick it up from the title, harry is just a tiny bit obsessed with toy story 3 after seeing it as his first movie earlier this summer! so of course, the decision was made for a toy story birthday party!

harry got the complete buzz lightyear and woody costumes...such a decision to make before halloween, but he'll certainly enjoy wearing both between now and then!!

here is a link to the rest of the photos from his special day!

hope you had a great day and as much fun as we did harry! kiki, johnny and tony love you very much!

deep creek 2010 - recap

we have been back from vacation now and completed an entire week's worth of work and i'm now just finally getting around to the vacation recap. so much for blogging on vacation...we were having too much fun enjoying the lake, the pool, the house, our family and just plain relaxing!

the weather didn't cooperate with us nearly like it did for last year's trip (kinda overcast), but it still made for fun times. i personally was only out on the boat 3 times (didn't settle well with my stomach, weather aside). but everyone had a great time tubing, and the guys went fishing pretty much every morning. a couple of catches, but they released everything back into the lake.

here are just a few, very few, of my favorite pictures from our trip

mama and tony enjoying an evening boat ride

cheesing big with daddy's hat on!

checking their fishing lines

tony did plenty of sleeping on the boat too...not a single boat ride was taken where he didn't fall asleep for at last 1/2 hour...one day was almost 2 hours!

tony was a fish! he showed off a bunch of his swimming skills he's learned from swim class and was doing a great job with or without his floaties!

tony tubing (with daddy hanging on from the back of the tube).

i took a bunch of pictures, and you can check them out here if you like.
i just want to thank my mother-in-law and father-in-law for doing the legwork in researching and locating the house and for giving us the opportunity to pitch in and enjoy the week. it makes all our hard, long hours at work worth it if that's how we get to spend our money and time off on vacation!!

into 2010

february - 2010

february brought about a huge snowstorm that beat up the east coast. i have to admit...we.loved.it! fall and especially winter is definitely our favorite time of the year. tony enjoyed really being able to play in the snow. he was a big help with shoveling the sidewalks and helping us help out our neighbors...that's of course when he wasn't playing with the few kids we have in the neighborhood.

tony was trying to walk up the front service walk before it was shoveled...didn't work too well!

look at all that snow on the front porch!

john did quite a bit of snow blowing out our neighbors driveways after the snow plow came through

march - 2010

in the beginning of march we welcomed a new nephew/cousin to the family. charles david brumbaugh was born on 3.9.10 to a huge sigh of relief from all families involved.

happy easter

may - 2010

in early may we were honored to be asked to sponsor charlie as his godparents during his baptism at church.

mid to late may was a bit of a sad time for us...

we had to sadly put our little basset hound molly to sleep. you may remember that in early 2009 (mid january and mid march to be exact) we had two surgeries performed on her to remove rocks (landscape and regular old rocks) from her intestines. she was in bad shape both times upon taking her to the vet but each time (and thousand of $ later) they were able to "fix her up". well, may was another story. from the minute we found out she had eaten the rocks (and saw her "get rid of them" on her own) she took a downhill turn very, very quickly. john immediately took her to the vet (after deciding that we just couldn't do this anymore and she wasn't going to [obviously] learn her lesson) and upon seeing her, the vet concurred that the surgery just wasn't going to work this time and it would be a waste of their time and our money and molly's already failing health. it's been 2 months and it still stings. we miss her terribly.

in late may we headed to nyc with the lutz's (sans kiddos) for the glee live tour! it was amazing and even so as jonathan groff (played jesse st. james on the show) sat right in front of me. it was a fun time and we had a great mini-vacation just the four of us.

july - 2010

well here we are. brought up to speed to the month we are currently in.

so far we've enjoyed...

- a fun-filled 4th with good friends

- a great showing of rent at the ephrata performing arts center with the good's

- a family picnic where our entire family was in one location at the same time (including our michigan relatives)

yet to come...

- a reading phillies game with some of john's co-workers

- my birthday

- a fun surprise

- our (what's now become) annual trip to deep creek lake in garrett county, md. here's a peek at where we're staying this year. i'll be updating from vacation with our crazy adventures like always.

stay tuned...

looking back

this will be my quick attempt at updating you on what's been going on since i last posted. i will hit the highlights as many of you are friends with me on facebook so you know what's going on anyway. i'm hoping to do these updates over the next few days so that by the weekend we are back on track and up to the present goings-on.

let's finish out 2009...

october - 2009

this year tony requested a spiderman costume for halloween. he was so adorable with his little washboard abs and big muscles. i just wanted to squeeze him when he had this on. he enjoyed a halloween parade at school with many from our family joining us to watch. harry even wore his chicken costume to enjoy the festivities. the night before halloween we were invited to trick-or-treat around st. lawrence with our good friend's the good's and their neighbor's the muhr's. the boys (err, i mean spiderman, batman and mr. skeleton) had a great time and hauled in the candy!

november - 2009

the beginning of november saw tony turning 4. he had a birthday party at bowl-o-rama. it was family and a few of his buddies. each of the kiddo-s got personalized "bowling shirts" that tony was so proud of!

the photo above was my sad attempt at a bowling ball cake with bowling pin cupcakes. everyone said they weren't as bad as i thought they looked...let's just not talk about them.

the day before tony's birthday party we also had the pleasure of attending the wedding of a college friend of mine. shane and i met my sophmore year of college when we both became ra's of scranton hall. our friendship grew over the years and we've managed to stay in touch since graduating 10 years ago. he and his wife erin are just perfect for each other and i wish them nothing but the best in their life together!

december - 2009

we had a wonderful christmas. anthony was just at such a good age and we just really sat there and laughed with and at each other on christmas morning.

no christmas for the d'angelo's would be complete without first venturing to plow farm to pick out the perfect christmas tree. this was my "dream come true" year for picking a tree as we had fresh fallen snow on the ground as we searched for the perfect tree and went on the wagon ride.

our perfect tree (we thought so anyway)

we spent christmas eve before church at my mom and dad's. our christmas morning was different this year for us than any in the past as i hosted first my parents for breakfast and then later the in-laws and that side of the family for christmas dinner. it was my first one. and i loved not having to travel around and everyone coming to us. anthony liked it too as he didn't have to leave his house/tree and toys! because of this change in plans, we celebrated our christmas morning on christmas eve with my sister, bil and harry.

as i said above, i hosted my first christmas brunch and then later dinner. the fun part of this for me was being creative and setting the table. i think i did an ok job with this.

we had a wonderful holiday and i took a ton more pictures. follow this link to see the rest of them.
