big birthday wishes

troy (my bff from as far back as elementary school shannon's son) celebrated his first birthday yesterday with a baby einstein themed party held at the exeter community park. it ended up being a beautifully sunny (ok, also very humid - but it beats rain) day and everyone had a great time. shannon and i arrived early to set up the pavilion and prepare for the bevy of guests to arrive. she did a fantastic job organizing everything and pulled off a wonderful celebration honoring troy (his birthday is actually 9.16 - my dad and our friend lisa's birthday as well as my sister's anniversary)!

a big birthday welcome!

all of his baby einstein friends were there!

homeade custom baby einstein cake courtesy of our friend wendi's mom (adah raffensberger)

complementing "smash cake" also by adah - how talented is she?

the good family...shannon, mike and birthday boy troy!

the d'angelo's present ...a lightweight 11 lb stroller to take to disney with them in november

tony d had fun climbing on the "big rock" next to the pavilion

this is the same rock mommy and her friends used to climb on "back in the day"

the birthday boy zonked out about 1/2 way through his present - what a trooper he was

the good family - 1 birthday down...at least 15-17 more to go!!!

me and the birthday boy!! happy birthday buddy! we love you!

the rest of the party pics can be viewed here!

Christy - I love the pix of the party! That cake is amazing. You know so many creative people. Please tell the cake decorator that if the cake tasted half as good as the decoarting - I'm sure it was a religious experience eating it! I'm still stealing ideas from your blog for mine. The most recent is the McCain-Palin sign. Love you!

Christy, thank you sooo much again for your help, and your blog entry. Bobbi thank you for the birthday wishes for troy. And thank everyone for the comments on the cake. I am very lucky to have such creative and talented friends and would have never been able to pull this off with everyone's help.

oh, shannon - you so could have pulled it off without your creative and talented friends and yourself...you just would have paid a heck of a lot more!!! :-) thanks for giving me the opportunity to help and for the pleasure of being there and apart of your family's lives!!
