looking ahead (and looking back)

wow - it was funny today finishing up my work and preparing for a long weekend away. i was thinking back remembering that five years ago today i finished work on thursday april 10 for the last time as a "single" woman.

i can't believe we'll have been married 5 years on saturday...at 4:26 p.m. to be exact (the organist looked at the clock when the pastor pronounced us husband & wife). in many ways it seems like we've been married much, much longer, yet, i can still remember what that day smelled, sounded and felt like as it seems like just yesterday.

we've done a lot of amazing things in the past 5 years, but nothing can compare to the amazing thing my husband was able to give me 2.5 years ago in our son. it truly was love at first sight when i met john 8 years ago (i still get butterflies when i think about it), and like every couple we've had our share of ups and down, but through it all, that love has continued to only build and grow stronger as each year has passed. i don't know what i would be doing or where i'd be in my life right now had it have not been for john and for that i'm so grateful! i look forward to many more years together and know that this is still only the beginning of what the Lord has in store for us!

we are off tomorrow to head to cape may, nj for a long weekend (which is why i'm posting this today instead of on our actual anniversary saturday), and we'll post pictures when we return. we're trying a new bed & breakfast this time, the carroll villa. please pray for enjoyable weather as they are calling for rain through the weekend with a little sun in between!
