our trip to the oc

sorry for the lack of posts over the weekend. we were busy spending time at the oc...c that is...oak creek campground. it's our favorite local campground that is quickly becoming a home away from home for us...it's nice to pull in and have the owners recognize us from trip to trip.

we hands down enjoyed the best camping trip the 3 of us have experienced together this weekend! the weather stayed beautiful and everyone stayed calm and in great spirits...sooo looking forward to our next trip in may!

friday evening went by quickly after we set up camp, then relaxed by the fire while eating pizza and having a few beers (thanks mom and dad).

saturday morning started with eggs, toast and bacon before heading out for a nice hike up to devil's den within the campground. this is an area john always hike to play on the rocks when he was a kid vacationing in the campground over the summer when his grandmom d'angelo had a permanant site.

after the hike, we thought we'd head to the neighboring campground, sun valley to visit with ray and patsy (lisa lutz's mom and stepdad). we figured they had returned from florida (where they spend their winters) and would enjoy the surprise. well the surprise was on us as the lutz's themselves were there visiting and spending time around the campfire. we joined them for about an hour or so before returning to our campground/site for dinner and relaxation by our fire. as you can see in two of the pictures, tony got cold and tired of sitting by the fire, and retired to the camper for pj's and his little einstein's dvd.

the weather continued to cooperate on sunday as we were packing up (although we hussled as the sky looked threatening the entire time). john gave tony a little (well supervised) lesson at chopping wood...it was very cute and he was so excited as i'm sure you'll be able to tell in the video.

it was an excellent weekend and we can't wait to do it again! hopefully when we go again at the end of may it will be a tad warmer for tony and i!

Looks like FUN was had by all! It was great to finally see "Scotty the Camper" after hearing so much about him. ;)

Hope the rest of the camping trips go well! :)

scotty's a beast isn't he? 1982 vs. our 1997 popup...but it's a sacrifice i was willing to take in order to have a bathroom and not have a payment on a camper. my car is paid off in a year and at that time we'll be upgrading to something much nicer...you can count on it!
